The Crime Branch team has arrested a woman who was roaming around different embassies and high security areas in her Innova car with a fake number plate of a foreign embassy to avoid police investigation. Two more fake number plates of foreign embassies have been recovered from his car.
The accused woman is a permanent resident of Assam and lives in Guwahati. During interrogation, he claimed that he had worked as a consultant in a foreign embassy for one year in 2023-24. The police are taking him into custody and questioning whether he along with other people is involved in anti-national activities on the upcoming Republic Day.
Could not show the ownership papers of the car
According to Deputy Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the team had received secret information that a woman often visits the embassies of different countries in New Delhi and also uses a car with a fake number plate of an embassy. On receiving the information, a team was formed under the supervision of ACP Pankaj Arora and under the leadership of Inspector Dalip Kumar. The team laid a trap in B Block, Vasant Vihar. As soon as the woman started the car at around 3.10 pm, she was caught. During interrogation she could not show the ownership documents of the vehicle.
Removed the embassy number plate and got a fake one
Initially she described herself as a representative of a foreign embassy, but could not tell the name of that embassy. When strictly interrogated, she told that she was using a fake number plate of a foreign embassy on the vehicle. He also told that he had purchased that Innova car from a foreign embassy in November 2024. The embassy had lodged a complaint against him at Chanakya Puri police station for not registering the vehicle in his name. Therefore, he removed the number plates of that embassy and got fake number plates made, so that he could easily go to different embassies and avoid checking by policemen at different places.

During interrogation, the woman claimed that she had worked as a consultant in a foreign embassy for a year in 2023-24 and was paid Rs 1.5 lakh every month. Apart from this, she told that she used to work as a sports guide in the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya, for which she got paid. After his arrest, he was sent to police custody for six days. His mobile phone has been confiscated and he is being interrogated in view of national security in the coming Republic Day.
