Jagran correspondent, Deoria. With the preparation of voter lists for the three-tier Panchayat elections, election activity has intensified. Now the phase of complaints regarding development works has also started in the villages. Every day, complaint letters have started being received from the District Magistrate to the Chief Development Officer offices regarding the investigation of the development works of the Pradhans.

Till now, more than 50 people have complained to the Chief Development Officer office for investigation against the heads. However, the officials are still avoiding investigation by linking the complaints to the elections.

One case of complaint is from Nenua village of Bhagalpur block. Subash Chand Kushwaha, a resident of the village, has said in the complaint letter given to the Chief Development Officer that funds have been withdrawn in the name of development in the village and about 80 percent of the work has been done on paper only. When no investigation was done after the complaint, the complainants demanded an investigation from the MLA. On which the MLA has recommended the DPRO and the District Development Officer to investigate and take necessary action.

Similarly, the second case is of Gram Panchayat Pipra Ramdhar. Virbhadra Mishra, a resident of this village, has approached the District Magistrate. Their allegation is that Pradhan has made payment of about Rs 2.5 lakh in the name of interlocking work from Salempur-Barhaj road to Gajanan Mishra's farm, whereas this work has been done by the former Pradhan. Disabled toilet has been built against the standards. Its investigation has not been started yet.

Taking serious note of the lack of investigation, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi has asked the District Magistrate to immediately investigate and take action. Right now both the cases are in cold storage. Similarly, such complaints are coming daily in many blocks including Salempur, Deoria, Barhaj, Lar. In this regard, District Panchayat Raj Officer Ratan Kumar said that a letter has been sent to the BDO to investigate whatever complaints are there.
