Jagran correspondent, Mohali. A speeding car ran over policemen checking vehicles near the traffic lights of Sector-70/71 late at night. Constable Mohit Kumar, posted in the Intelligence Wing, was seriously injured and his two colleagues had a narrow escape. The driver ran away with the car.
Mohit has been admitted to the hospital. Mohit was doing duty at the checkpoint along with four other policemen. The police team had set up barricades to check vehicles from 10 pm to 10 am. At around 2 o'clock in the night, a car came at high speed from Kumbhada.

Constables Jaskaran Singh and Siranjeev Singh narrowly escaped being hit by the car, while Mohit Kumar collided with the barricade and fell on the road and got injured. After the incident, the driver fled from the spot.
On the complaint of the injured constable, Mataur police station has registered a case against the car driver under sections of murderous assault, obstruction in official duty and rash driving. Police are scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby and efforts are being made to identify the car.
