Jagran correspondent, Palwal. A case of dowry harassment and attempt to murder by poisoning has come to light in Utavad police station area. The police have registered a case in the matter and started investigation. According to the complaint, Nafisa, a resident of Adbar, told the police that she was married to Naeem, son of Khurshid, a resident of Malai village, on July 9, 2018. Shortly after marriage, her husband, mother-in-law Farmina, father-in-law Khurshid, sister-in-law Nazia and brother-in-law Inam kept harassing her for dowry.

According to the victim, earlier also a case had been registered in this regard at Sadar police station, in which her husband was arrested and the matter is pending in the court.
Nafisa told that on December 7, 2025, in an attempt to reach a compromise, she was again sent to her in-laws' house, but there she again started harassing her by demanding dowry of Rs. 7 lakh. It is alleged that on February 3, 2026, her in-laws mixed poisonous substance in her food with the intention of killing her. When his health deteriorated, his father Sahabuddin and maternal uncle took him from his in-laws' house to Nalhar Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Police have recorded the statement of the victim.
