Jagran correspondent, Shimla. With the rapid increase in the use of digital services, cases of cyber fraud are also increasing. Only vigilance can save you from cyber fraud. In Himachal too, people are becoming victims of fraud through fake customer care numbers appearing on Google search. In the name of complaints related to banking services, mobile network, electricity-water bills, gas connections, e-commerce and digital payments, cyber thugs are trapping innocent people. There is a network of fake customer care numbers on Google, there is a need to be cautious about it. According to cyber experts, fraudsters upload such fake numbers on Google which look like the customer care numbers of a renowned company or government department. After this, tactics like asking for OTP, transferring money in the name of refund or verification through UPI or getting the screen shared are adopted.

Fraud cases came from here

According to Himachal Police, many such cases have been reported from Shimla, Kangra, Sirmaur, Solan and Una districts in recent times. Even educated people have become victims of fraud.
