Traffic in-charge Inspector Satendra Singh has appealed to the public to keep the speed of the vehicle less than normal due to low visibility so that the vehicle can be controlled in case of any emergency.
High beam lights get scattered in fog which further impairs front view, always use low beam head lights or fog lights. Maintain sufficient distance from the vehicles moving ahead, so that collision can be avoided when braking suddenly. Avoid overtaking. Overtaking can be dangerous because it is difficult to predict the traffic coming from the front.
Drive in your lane, be very cautious before changing lanes or turning. Use the horn lightly at turns or intermittently to signal your presence to other vehicles. If you have to stop on the side of the road, keep your parking or emergency lights (both indicators) on so that the vehicle behind can know your position.
If visibility is very low, proceed by focusing on the white markings made on the divider or edge of the road. Avoid mobile phones or other distractions and concentrate completely on driving. Keep the car glass clean. If the fog is very heavy and it is not possible to drive, then it would be better to stop at a safe place off the road and wait for the fog to clear up a bit.
