Jagran Correspondent, Dehradun: The process of changing meters, which was temporarily stopped due to complaints from public representatives and consumers regarding the installation of smart meters, is now going to start again.

MR Arya, Director Operations, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited, has issued clear instructions to the Superintending Engineer and CEO of Smart Metering in this regard. After which the process of changing meters will start across the state.

Under the order issued on November 22, the process of replacing smart meters was stopped until the complaints of consumers were resolved. During this period, special mega camps were organized across the state, where the problems of consumers were resolved in a timely manner.

In the new instructions of the Director of Operations, it has been said that in view of the positive feedback being received in the mega camps after the disposal of the complaints, now the smart meter installation work should be resumed smoothly as before.

According to the order, the work of replacement of old meters, installation of smart meters, installation of service connection meters, replacement of IDF meters is being started again. The administration says that according to the guidelines of the Centre, it is mandatory to complete the work of smart meter installation within the stipulated time, hence it is necessary to speed up the work.

Director Operations MR Arya gave clear instructions that the order should be strictly followed and redressal of consumer complaints should continue. Also, meter installation work should be done with full quality within the time limit.

With the smart metering process gaining momentum, consumers are expected to benefit from better billing, real-time consumption information and transparent power management.
