Sports Desk, New Delhi. The India-Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup 2026 is to be played on 15 February in Colombo. However, Pakistan has refused to play in this match against India. The government of Pakistan has instructed the team to boycott the match against Team India and this decision has been taken to support Bangladesh.
After Pakistan's decision to boycott, now a reaction has come from Bangladesh's side regarding this. Bangladesh has thanked Pakistan for this step. Actually, Bangladesh had refused to play in the T20 World Cup 2026 in India, due to which they had to bow out of the tournament and Scotland got the chance in their place. Pakistan is now opposing Bangladesh's exit.
After this step of Pakistan, Bangladesh has thanked. Bangladesh's sports advisor Asif Nazrul has thanked Pakistan. Nazrul wrote on his Facebook account, "Thank you Pakistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Bangladesh has been thrown out of the T20 World Cup 2026. In protest against this, his team has decided not to play the match against India."
The government of Pakistan had announced that they will not play the match against India. However, till now no statement has come out from anyone's side regarding this. Recently, during a meeting, Prime Minister Sharif said, we have taken a very clear stand regarding playing against India in the T20 World Cup 2026. I believe that politics should not be involved in sports and that is why we will not play the match against India. We have taken this decision after careful consideration and we fully stand with Bangladesh. I think it's a great decision."
After the announcement by the Government of Pakistan, ICC immediately reacted regarding this. The ICC had suggested the Pakistan Cricket Board to consider its decision. However, now Pakistan's stand is clearly visible that they will not play against Team India.
