Benipur hospital is facing shortage of doctors
Dialogue Associate, Benipur. Benipur Sub-Divisional Hospital is facing serious problems these days. This hospital, which bears the burden of treating a large population of five blocks, is facing shortage of doctors and health workers.
The situation is such that patients coming here for treatment either have to wait for hours or are referred to DMCH for better treatment.
If treatment is not received on time, the condition worsens.
According to the information, 30 posts of doctors are sanctioned in the hospital. At present only 15 doctors are working. The situation of nursing staff is also no different. The accepted number is 50. In comparison, less than half the nurses are working. Due to this, OPD, emergency and ward services are being affected.
Due to lack of ICU, ventilator and specialist doctors in the hospital, serious patients are referred after first aid. Many relatives say that due to not getting timely treatment, the condition of the patients worsens.
Irregular arrangement of duty roster
Last month, during the surprise inspection of the district administration, many doctors and health workers were found absent without any information. On this, action of withholding salary and clarification was also taken by the Civil Surgeon. The administration gave strict instructions to the hospital management to strictly follow the duty roster. But this system could not be implemented regularly.
Among the patients who came to the hospital, Leela Devi, Rampari Devi, Shobhit Paswan and others said that due to the extreme cold, blankets have been given to the patients of the hospital. Many times essential medicines are not available in the hospital, due to which they have to buy medicines from outside. People are also continuously complaining about cleanliness and convenience of patients.
Doctors should be appointed soon
Among the local people, Rajiv Kumar Mishra, Nilambar Yadav, Hitnarayan Yadav, Shamsul Hoda and other public representatives have demanded from the government to ensure prompt appointment of doctors, modern medical facilities, ICU and adequate medicine arrangements in Benipur Sub-Divisional Hospital, so that poor and rural patients do not have to go far for better treatment.
Efforts are being made to resolve the problems. A letter has been sent to higher officials for the appointment of a doctor. Also, the construction of a new community health center in the area is expected to provide relief to the patients in future. -Dr. Kumari Bharti, Deputy Superintendent in-charge, Sub-Divisional Hospital, Benipur.
