Due to lack of land registry in the state, the state government will now get the registration done at its own expense for the applicants who are becoming ineligible for the PM Awas Yojana. In fact, such suburbs which were earlier in the rural areas, have now come in the urban periphery, but the registration was not done at the Panchayat level, those people are not able to get the registration done.
The Government of India has made land registry mandatory under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Due to this, people who are extremely poor are being deprived of the housing scheme due to lack of registry. Keeping this in view, the government has decided to get the registry done. A provision of six thousand crore rupees has been kept for this.
Legal hurdles will be removed
In fact, the state government is taking special steps to remove the legal hurdles of land ownership (lease/registry) to provide permanent houses to the eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The government is in the process of providing land registry or patta at its own expense for those poor who do not have land papers of their own to build houses. In these, the actual status of the land will be verified and only after that the registration will be done or the lease will be given.

Jaivardhan Singh had raised the issue in the assembly
Former Minister of Urban Development and Housing Department and Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh had also raised this issue in the Assembly. He had said that earlier the registry was not mandatory in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, now the registry has been made mandatory. People are incurring additional expenses. PM has amended the housing rules which is not good for the people, how will those who are poor do the registration. This will leave very few people with a registry. He had said that the rules of PM's residence should be relaxed. This was also supported by BJP MLA from Sagar Shailendra Jain.
