State Bureau, Ranchi. Many important announcements have also been made for Jharkhand in the Union Budget for the financial year 2026-27 (Budget 2026) presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday. The provisions made in the Union Budget will not only improve the health sector in Jharkhand, but will also develop tourism.

In the Union Budget, the establishment of NIMHANS-2 (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences) in North India was mentioned.

At the same time, it was announced to upgrade the Indian Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) located at Tezpur in Assam as well as Kanke in Ranchi to Regional Apex Institute.

There has been a demand for many years to develop CIP as NIMHANS. CIP had also given a proposal to the Center regarding this. The Central Government will launch a National Tele-Mental Health Programme, through which people will get mental health counseling through phone and digital platforms.

Experts believe that problems related to depression, anxiety and stress are increasing rapidly in the country. Jharkhand is also not untouched by this. In such a situation, institutions like tele-mental health counseling and NIMHANS-2.0 can become a relief for those people who have been away from expert treatment till now.

Although Jharkhand already has institutions like CIP and Rinpas, Ranchi can develop as a hub in mental health care.

The Union Budget announced the upgradation of existing institutions as well as setting up of new institutions in the private and government sectors to produce one lakh healthcare professionals over the next five years.

This will be more beneficial for a state like Jharkhand, where there is a severe shortage of health professionals. The budget has also announced the establishment of three new All India Ayurveda Institutes.

However, it is not clear in which states they will be established. Recently, the state government had demanded from the Center to establish this institute in Jharkhand, in such a situation it can be expected that Jharkhand can get an institute.

The budget also talks about assistance for trauma centers in district hospitals. This will be important for a state like Jharkhand, because there is a shortage of trauma centers here.

Medical tourism will get a boost

Emphasis has also been laid on medical tourism in the Union Budget, which Jharkhand can also benefit from. It said that regional medical centers will be established in five states with the help of the private sector. For this, the Government of India will provide financial assistance to the concerned state government.

This institute will function as an integrated health care building, where medical, education and research facilities will be present. In these, facilities for AYUSH centre, medical centre, tourism centre, health check-up, care and rehabilitation will be available.

Talking about tourism itself, a high quality 12-week training program will be started for skill upgradation of 10 thousand guides. This will produce skilled guides for Jharkhand also. This will not only provide local employment but will also boost tourism.

Women's hostel in every district will make higher education easier for girls

One announcement made in education is an effort to promote girl education. Under this, a women's hostel will be established in every district. Certainly this will remove the problem of drop out among girl students and it will be easier for the girl students to get higher education.
