This corridor has been included in the seven high-speed rail corridor projects announced in the Union Budget. The National High-Speed ​​Rail Corporation had conducted the ground survey for this project in 2021 itself.

With its inclusion in the budget, the hopes of this project becoming a reality have increased. This will revolutionize rail connectivity between NCR and other cities of Uttar Pradesh. This will reduce travel time and promote tourism and trade. This will create new employment opportunities and will also help in protecting the environment.

Right now the fastest train from Delhi to Varanasi, Vande Bharat Express, takes eight hours. Other trains take 10 to 12 hours. The high-speed train will cover this distance in three to four hours.

The high-speed route will include major religious places like Mathura, Ayodhya and Kashi. Tourism will get a boost by reducing the time taken to travel long distances. It is proposed to build 13 stations on this approximately 800 kilometer long route. Stations at Hazrat Nizamuddin (Delhi) and Varanasi as well as at Noida, Jewar Airport, Mathura, Agra, Etawah, Kannauj, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj are being discussed.

Fast connectivity will also boost commercial activities. New economic zones will develop and real estate business will strengthen. Promotion of tourism and business activities will create new direct and indirect employment opportunities.

High-speed trains are environmentally friendly. They consume less energy compared to road and air transport. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta says that this is not just a rail project, but a symbol of speed, progress and public trust. This project will take Delhi's connectivity to a new level. Travel will be faster and more convenient. New markets will open for trade and industry.
