Record breaking demand for biryani on New Year's Eve
Biryani is being liked a lot among Indians. This can be gauged from the fact that in 2025, 9.3 crore orders of Biryani were given i.e. an average of 3.25 orders were given every second. This shows that there is a huge demand for biryani during festivals, which is being liked as much as pizza and burgers.
According to Swiggy data, more than 2.18 lakh pizzas were delivered till 8.30 pm on Wednesday night. Whereas 2.16 lakh orders of burgers were fulfilled. As the evening progressed the demand for sweets also increased.
Pizza, burgers and sweets were also liked a lot.
Rasmalai, gulab jamun and gajar ka halwa were among the top five sweets ordered till 10.30 pm. Food delivery platforms like Swiggy and Zomato reported on Thursday that there was a huge increase in orders on New Year's Eve.
However, during this period, a section of gig workers remained on strike demanding better payment. This had minor impact on operations.
