Case Of Rinsing In Sri Harmandir Sahib Sarovar; SGPC Complains To Police, Demands Strict Action

The video of the young man while rinsing in the lake had gone viral on the internet media.

Jagran correspondent, Amritsar. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has submitted a written complaint to the Amritsar Police demanding strict action regarding the issue of rinsing in the holy lake of Sri Harmandir Sahib. SGPC has described this incident as hurting religious sentiments and termed it as very serious.

SGPC's Legal Advisor Amanbir Singh Siyali said that the committee has thoroughly investigated the entire incident at its level. During investigation, it has come to light that the concerned Muslim youth had reached Sri Harmandir Sahib with his four friends on January 13 and was present inside the premises for about twenty minutes. He alleged that the youth had come there with the intention of disrespect.

Amanbir Singh Siyali said that investigation has also revealed the fact that the young man did not follow the dignity of bowing his head while entering Sri Harimandir Sahib. This behavior further cast doubt on his intentions. SGPC says that this act is not only a violation of decorum but also hurts religious sentiments.

The young man who posted the video on internet media has apologized.
