Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. The maximum temperature of Bhagalpur has fallen by seven degrees Celsius in a day and the cold has also increased along with the cold. Dense fog has also become a cause of trouble.

In view of the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the District Magistrate has ordered to run classes in all government and private schools from 9 am to 4 pm till December 25. This order will also be applicable to pre-schools, Anganwadi centers and coaching institutes. Special classes and examinations conducted for pre-board and board examinations will remain unchanged.

It was the coldest day recorded so far this month as the maximum temperature dropped from 24 degrees Celsius to 17.6 degrees Celsius on Friday. The minimum temperature was 13.0 degrees Celsius. The westerly wind is blowing at a speed of 6.9 kilometers per hour. Due to this, there is a difference of only four degrees Celsius between day and night temperatures. Cold will increase further in Bhagalpur. The effect of fog will be less compared to other districts.

Fog remained till late morning, life affected

Normal life was affected due to fog till late morning on Friday. There was some relief due to light sunshine for some time in the afternoon, but as the evening approached, the cold started showing its effect again. Meteorologists say that at present the cold will be more severe in Bhagalpur, although there is no possibility of much drop in the temperature.

According to Sabour Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in the coming days is expected to be between 10 to 14 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature will be around 21 to 24 degrees. There will be dense fog in the morning, due to which visibility will be significantly reduced. Light sunshine may appear as the day progresses. Due to low wind speed, cold wave conditions will not arise at the moment, but the feeling of cold will remain constant. The effect of cold will be greater at night.

Chance of snowfall in some parts of the country from 20th to 22nd

According to scientists of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the influence of western disturbance, the weather may change in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand next week. There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in these areas between December 20 and 22.

On December 21, there may be heavy snowfall in some high altitude areas, due to which the cold will increase further, there will also be a possibility of frost. Its effect will be visible in the plains also. Cold wave situation may occur in many districts of Bihar including Bhagalpur.

The Western Disturbance which has formed as a cyclonic circulation over Jammu and Kashmir and its surrounding areas lies at 3.1 km above sea level. A sub-tropical westerly jet stream is present over northern India at 12.6 km above sea level. Due to this, cold is being felt in the district. The sky is covered with clouds and dense fog. These environmental conditions are expected to last for the next three to four days.
