In such a situation, the accounts of 65 thousand social security pensioners who have not yet got e-KYC done will be closed. At present, the pensions of all of them are closed and now preparations are being made to close the accounts permanently. It has been clarified by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment that the pension accounts of those pensioners who have not got the e-KYC done by 15th February, will be closed permanently. At present about 8.10 lakh pensioners in the state are taking benefits of various social security pension schemes. These beneficiaries are given pension at the rate of Rs 1100 to Rs 1700 per month, which is deposited directly into the bank accounts on a quarterly basis.

Last chance given to pensioners

The e-KYC process has been launched with the aim of making the pension system transparent and removing ineligible beneficiaries. Still more than 65 thousand beneficiaries have not got the e-KYC done, who have been given the last chance. In many cases, complaints were received regarding continuation of pension even after the death of the beneficiaries, after which the verification campaign was intensified. Through e-KYC, it is being ensured that pension is delivered only to the genuine beneficiaries.
