Devotees arrived to take bath in Ganga on Paush Purnima. Awakening

Jagran Correspondent, Haridwar: On the holy festival of Paush Purnima, a huge crowd of devotees gathered in the religious city of Haridwar to take a bath in the Ganga. Since early morning, devotees were seen taking a dip of faith at various ghats including Har Ki Paidi. The Krishna Paksha of Magh month has started from today Sunday. Which is considered virtuous from religious point of view.

According to the scriptures, in the month of Magh, the gods come to earth and take human form and bathe in the Ganga, donate and chant. For this reason, bathing in the Ganga in the month of Magh has been said to have special importance.

It is believed that bathing in the Ganga during this period destroys all sins and fulfills the wishes of the devotees. Pilgrimage priest Ujjwal Pandit said that the month of Magh is not limited only to bathing and charity, but it is also considered a special period for self-study.

Swadhyaya has two main meanings. First is to study oneself and second is to study the scriptures. Self-study means introspection of one's thoughts, actions and behavior and adopting thoughts that infuse positive energy in life.

He said that regular study of good thoughts and great scriptures gives direction to a person's life and provides inner happiness. In such a situation, along with bathing in Ganga in the month of Magh, self-study should be made an integral part of life. The path to spiritual progress can be paved by making better books as friends.
