100 more stray dogs killed in Telangana, figure crosses 1200
PTI, Hyderabad. A news shameful to humanity has come out from Nagarkurnool district of Telangana, where about 100 stray dogs were killed by injecting poison in Thimmaipalli village. With this, the number of dogs killed in the state since December 2025 has crossed 1200.
According to animal rights activists, this brutal act was carried out 10 days ago and the bodies were buried two kilometers away from the village. It is alleged that professional dog killers were called for this and about Rs 18 thousand were spent.
Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against the Gram Panchayat Sarpanch's son, the Panchayat Secretary and a villager under the BNS and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. So far, bodies of 12 dogs have been recovered, investigation is ongoing.
Animal welfare activist M Preeti has directly blamed the Sarpanch and Panchayat Secretary for this inhumane conspiracy.
Activists claim that this mass murder was carried out to fulfill the promise made to the villagers to get rid of stray dogs before the Gram Panchayat elections held in December. That is, not for public service, but for the ladder of power, the voiceless were sacrificed.
Meanwhile, another case of illegally catching 50 stray dogs and releasing them in the forest has come to light in Boppapur village of Siddipet district. In this case also, allegations have been made against the Sarpanch and Panchayat Secretary.
