Due to the poor arrangement of the electricity department, power supply came to a standstill for six hours in three dozen areas connected to the Bhikhanpur sub-centre on Wednesday. People had to face a lot of trouble due to power cuts for hours without prior notice. Electricity supply remained disrupted from 12 noon to 6.15 pm. Even after sub-stations got adequate and uninterrupted power from SLDC, people faced power crisis. More problems arose in those houses where Shraddha rituals and marriage ceremonies took place.
Imposing their will on consumers
Pankaj Kumar, Executive Engineer, South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited, Bhagalpur Supply Area, while denying that there was a fault in the high tension wire and Bhikhanpur sub-centre, said that the shutdown was taken to replace the covered wire in Diction Road. Due to this electricity was cut.
Officers are not following any instructions from the headquarters
A rule has been made to inform the consumers by messaging them 12 hours before the cut. Not only this, there is a strict instruction from the headquarters that due to malfunction, breakdown or other works, electricity should not be switched off for more than three hours at any cost. But the local engineers are not following any instructions of the headquarters.
Ignoring the instructions of the headquarters, the officials are imposing their will on the innocent consumers here. Consumers are facing problems due to the working style of the officials. The work of replacing the covered wire should have been completed nine months ago. But there is still 30-35 kilometers of wire replacement work left. In such a situation, people's problems may increase in summer. There is a possibility that even today electricity may be cut for several hours. There is still more electrical work to be done.
