Accused soft engineer Rajesh Gulati cut his wife Anupama Gulati into 72 pieces, kept them in a deep freezer for two months and then dumped them in the forest of Malsi Deer Park. In the year 2017, the lower court had convicted Rajesh Gulati and sentenced him to life imprisonment. On Tuesday, the High Court upheld the life imprisonment decision of the lower court. Relatives have also appreciated the decision of the High Court.
In 1992, Rajesh and Anupama met through a common friend in a restaurant in Delhi and fell in love with each other. Studied together during a seven-year affair. They got married on 10 February 1999. They swore to live and die together and the very next year of marriage, Rajesh and Anupama went to America. A dispute started there. Anupama returned to Delhi in 2003, but Rajesh convinced her and took her to America again in 2005. In June 2006, Anupama gave birth to twins Siddharth and Sonakshi, but the relationship grew sour. When both of them returned from America in 2008, their relatives searched for a new way to reconcile and advised them to settle in Dehradun.
In July 2009, he came to Dehradun and rented Ved Prakash Mittal's house in Prakash Nagar. The children were admitted to DPS school, but the discord between the couple did not end. The matter reached the office of the Domestic Violence Protection Officer and Rajesh was reprimanded. In September 2010, it was decided that Rajesh would give Rs 20 thousand to Anupama every month for her expenses. Rajesh did this for one month, but in the next month it escalated. When there was a fight on October 17, 2010, the reason remained the same. And Rajesh brutally kills Anupama. Made the children sleep in another room. When the children woke up in the morning, they said that mom had gone to Nana's house.
If the children asked about their mother, they would show a fake e-mail on the laptop. If asked to dial the phone, he would have avoided it. How did the children know that mom was locked in the freezer at home? Rajesh had locked the freezer. On the pretext of taking the children on a holiday to Mussoorie, he was disposing of the body parts.
Anupama's brother's friend reached Doon from Haridwar to gather information.
After 17 October 2010, when Anupama did not talk to her parents for several days, they became suspicious. On December 11, Anupama's brother Siddhant asked his friend Madhav Pauriyal, a resident of Haridwar, to go to Doon and get information. When Madhav reached here on 12th December, Rajesh opened the door.
He introduced himself as a passport agent and asked about Anupama. Rajesh said that Anupama has gone to Delhi. When in doubt, Siddhant reached Doon. After disposing of the body parts, Rajesh was planning to flee abroad with the children. Due to constant pressure from his in-laws to talk to Anupama, Rajesh understood that it was not possible to survive much longer. So he started packing the things. He was still packing on the day it was revealed.
Was arrested on 12 December 2010
On suspicion, when the police arrested the accused and interrogated him, everyone was stunned to hear his words. The accused told that after killing his wife, he cut her into 72 pieces with a cutter and kept them in the fridge for two months. After this the pieces were taken to Malsi Deer Park to dispose of them. In the year 2017, the lower court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment and fine. At present, both the children of Rajesh Gulati are studying in America.
