Jagran correspondent, East Delhi. NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has taken a big step towards improving the passenger amenities at Anand Vihar station of Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor. Modern pod hotels, fine dining restaurants and other passenger-centric amenities will be developed in the station premises.
Rest facilities within the station premises
According to NCRTC officials, under this scheme, a state-of-the-art pod hotel with a capacity of 30 pods will be built inside the station. This hotel has been specially designed keeping in mind the travelers who want to spend some time relaxing during their travels. This facility will prove to be very useful for passengers at a highly busy multi-modal transit hub like Anand Vihar. Passengers reaching Delhi by Namo Bharat train from Meerut and catching further long distance trains will be able to rest in the station premises itself, which will save both time and effort.
Commercial facilities also proposed
Under the project, more than 4,000 square meters of area has been given on license for property development. This area will be spread across four different locations on different levels of the station, to better integrate the facilities across passenger flow areas. Apart from the pod hotel, there are plans to develop a premium dining restaurant here. Food retail outlets, office space, clothing showrooms and other commercial facilities are also proposed.
Why did pod hotel have to be built?
However, it has not been decided yet how much the passengers will have to pay for this. A decision on this will be taken after the hotel completes its work. Anand Vihar Namo Bharat Station is the major multi-modal transit hub of NCR, with direct connectivity to the Pink and Blue Lines of Delhi Metro, Anand Vihar Railway Station and two interstate bus terminals. Due to this, it has been decided to build a pod hotel with very small sized rooms here.
