Delhi Pollution: 192 Buses Of The State Banned In Delhi, Uttarakhand Transport Corporation Worried

In view of pollution, BS-3 and BS-4 buses will not be able to go to Delhi Kashmiri Gate ISBT. symbolic

Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. In view of increasing pollution, 192 old diesel buses of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation were banned from entering Delhi from Wednesday. All these buses belong to BS-3 and BS-4 category. In this regard, Delhi Government was warning Uttarakhand Transport Corporation for the last four years, but the Transport Corporation did not take it seriously.

At present, Uttarakhand Transport Corporation has only 130 BS-6 diesel and 300 contracted CNG buses, which can go to Delhi Kashmiri Gate ISBT, but the problem is that these buses are also providing services on the hilly and other routes of the state. Out of 540 buses plying on the Delhi route, now only 348 buses will be able to provide service. The operation of old buses to Delhi was stopped from Wednesday morning, due to which passengers had to face problems. Buses are being sent to Mohnagar on the UP border.

The Delhi government was preparing to ban the entry of diesel buses in Delhi for the last four years to control pollution. For this, letters are being sent to the transport corporations of all the states including Uttarakhand Transport Corporation from the year 2021, in which they were warned of ban on the entry of BS-3 and BS-4 diesel buses from October 1. Even in recent August, Delhi government had sent a warning letter, but Uttarakhand Transport Corporation did not show seriousness.

However, after the festive season and the request of the Uttarakhand government, the Delhi government had given conditional exemption to the entry of buses. Meanwhile, Delhi's pollution reached its highest level, due to which all the old buses of Uttarakhand were not allowed to enter Kashmiri Gate ISBT from Wednesday and challans were also issued to the buses.

After this information, Transport Corporation General Manager (Operations) Kranti Singh ordered all the depot managers to send only contracted CNG and new BS-6 buses to Delhi Kashmiri Gate ISBT. Let us tell you that 540 buses are operated daily on the Delhi route from all the depots of Uttarakhand. About 40 to 50 thousand passengers travel daily from Uttarakhand on the Delhi route.
