Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The streets of New Delhi and Old Delhi are being decorated for the Republic Day parade. Special preparations are being made especially on Dutta Path, Tilak Marg and Subhash Marg. The repair work along with painting of these roads is in progress. The greenery of footpaths and dividers is being improved.
In this sequence, the process of catching stray dogs and monkeys is also increasing. An MCD official said that the road from ITO to Red Fort comes under MCD. Teams have been deployed there to catch the dogs. Similarly, monkeys are a big problem so they are also being caught.
Target to catch 200 stray dogs
There is a lot of problem of beggars and homeless in Chandni Chowk area, so they are being removed. PWD, DUSIB and other departments are also engaged in this process. According to the official, the target is to catch about 200 stray dogs in and around the parade route.
For the first time, there are also preparations to install archways on the parade route from ITO to Red Fort. For this, cooperation has been sought from the market organizations of Chandni Chowk. There would also be pictures of brave fighters on these archways. Which along with the parade passing through there will further strengthen the feeling of patriotism among the common people.
Why not a year long campaign to get rid of stray dogs?
Describing the problem of stray dogs as serious, local residents asked why these campaigns are not carried out throughout the year. Delhi Trade Federation President Devraj Baweja said that in Old Delhi, there is a big problem of not only stray dogs and monkeys but also stray animals. No action is taken on his complaints.
