Dismissed female constable in jail gives birth to a son. (symbolic)
Digital Desk, New Delhi. Dismissed female head constable Monica Gupta, lodged in the jail of Durg district of Chhattisgarh, gave birth to a son in the district hospital on Tuesday. She was nine months pregnant at the time of her arrest.
Bhilai Nagar CSP Satyaprakash Tiwari said that on July 4, 2020, there was a theft in a house in Scindia Nagar, in which unknown thieves took away 79 grams of gold jewelery and Rs 32 thousand in cash.
The investigation of this case was handed over to Monica Gupta. On June 30, 2023, they arrested the accused and seized the jewellery, but as per rules, the goods were neither deposited in the warehouse nor returned to the complainant. Monica kept the seized gold with herself and misled the officials.
When the allegations were proved, an FIR was registered against him on March 4, 2025. On February 2, 2026, the police arrested him and sent him to judicial custody. Due to serious allegations, he was also dismissed from service in the year 2025 itself.
