Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. The administration has started extensive preparations to celebrate Holi festival in a peaceful and harmonious environment. In the meeting of Peace and Harmony Committee held at Police Lines on Monday, DM Deepak Meena and SSP Dr. Kaustubh gave clear instructions that any kind of rumor should be refuted immediately.

The members of the committee were also appealed to immediately oppose the misleading information spread through social media or other means and to disseminate correct information to the people.

The DM has directed the Municipal Corporation to ensure lime sprinkling, cleaning of drains, waste disposal and proper lighting on the routes through which the Shobha Yatra will pass.

It has been asked to run a special campaign to prevent stray animals from roaming on the roads. The Electricity Department has been instructed to do on-site inspection of the travel routes and immediately repair the hanging and dilapidated wires, so that any untoward incident can be avoided.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Kaustubh told in the meeting that adequate police force and PAC will be deployed at major intersections, markets and religious places. Monitoring will be done through drones and CCTV cameras.

Strict action will be taken against those posting objectionable posts on social media. Officers from various departments and committee members including Dr. Sudhakar Pandey, Adil Amin, Priya Kumari Shukla and Murtaza Hussain Rahmani were present in the meeting.
