Jagran correspondent, Balrampur. On the trivial issue of not getting cold drinks at the shop, drug addict youth beat UP Board 12th class student Alok Kumar Gupta to death with rods and hockey sticks. His nephew, 18-year-old Durgesh, who came to his rescue, was also beaten up by the youth, causing head injury.
Seriously injured Alok, resident of Pala Lalajot village, has been referred from Community Health Center Nandnagar to Lucknow. Now he will not be able to appear in further examinations. A case has been registered in Gaura Chauraha police station against Pramod Yadav, resident of Chilhi Kala village, and his two associates involved in the incident.
Alok Kumar is a class 12 student of DAV Inter College, Gupta Nagar. Last Thursday, he had returned after giving Hindi exam at Bhagwati Adarsh Inter College Examination Centre. Along with studies, he along with his brother Satyadev runs a tea and cold drinks hotel located at Nasibganj intersection. After 9 pm, he was sitting at the hotel preparing for the upcoming examination.
The victim's brother Satyadev told that meanwhile Pramod Yadav along with his two companions reached there in a white Swift car. All three were sitting in the car and drinking alcohol. One of these young men came down from the car and asked for a cold drink. Alok said that the cold drink bottle kept has expired, hence he will not be able to give it.
On this the mangarh youth abused Alok, snatched the mobile and walked towards the car. Alok ran after her to get the mobile. When he asked for his mobile, the young man started beating him. By then Pramod Yadav and his other companion sitting in the car came down from the car. All three together started beating him. The bullies hit Alok hard on his head and face with rods and hockey sticks, killing him.
Durgesh, who came to save Alok, was also attacked by drug addict youth. He also got injured on his head due to hockey attack. When the people of the town and two boys working at the hotel ran to save him, all three sat in the car and hit it at high speed and damaged the counter of the shop.

Seeing the crowd increasing, all three ran away from there. Police station incharge Harish Singh said that a case has been registered against Pramod Yadav and two unknown people on the complaint of the student's elder brother Satyadev. Efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
