Digital Desk, New Delhi. In June 2020, a 2.75 magnitude earthquake was recorded in a remote area of Central Asia. This signal was caught by the monitoring station of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization located in Kazakhstan. Now America has claimed that it was not a natural earthquake.
Senior US official said that the earthquake was the result of a secret underground nuclear test conducted by China. According to him, this test was conducted at Lop Noop, China's long-used nuclear test site located in the Xinjiang region. America has made these allegations at a time when President Donald Trump is preparing to expand nuclear weapons.
China hid the explosion – America
US State Department Assistant Secretary Christopher Yew said that the source of the signal recorded on June 22, 2020 was Lop Nour, which is more than 700 kilometers away from the monitoring station. He said that there is very little possibility that it was anything other than an explosion.
Another senior official, Thomas Dinano, claimed that China used a technique called decoupling to hide the explosion, making the seismic intensity of the underground explosion appear less.

China denied the allegations
China has completely rejected these allegations. A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington called it political manipulation and said that America is making an excuse to restart its nuclear tests. Beijing says it is committed to restraint and international commitments.
Limited confirmation of CTBTO
Amid these claims, the CTBTO confirmed that its International Monitoring System recorded two small seismic events at 9.18 am that day, 12 seconds apart. However, the organization said that these signals were so small and of such low level that it could not be decided on the basis of this data alone whether it was a nuclear explosion or a natural earthquake.
