State Bureau, Lucknow. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached properties worth Rs 7.30 crore of Ani Group in connection with the embezzlement of Rs 110 crore from investors. ED's Lucknow zonal office has temporarily attached three immovable and one movable property in a money laundering case registered against Ani Bullion Traders and others under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). These include immovable properties located in Lucknow, Delhi and Uttarkashi and also a fixed deposit (FD) in the name of Ani Bullion Industries Private Limited.
ED had started investigating the case on the basis of various FIRs and complaints lodged against Ajit Kumar Gupta and others. ED investigation has revealed that Ajit Kumar Gupta and his associates had defrauded people of about Rs 110 crore by luring them with fake investment schemes.
The amount raised from investors was transferred to other bank accounts through various Ani group companies and Ivision Credit Co-operative Society. Ajit Kumar Gupta also had control over the society.
According to the ED, the fraud money was used to purchase various properties in the name of Ani Bullion Industries Private Limited. Earlier in the year 2023 also, ED had attached properties worth Rs 9.1 crore of Ajit Kumar Gupta, his wife Niharika Singh (IFS) and Ani Group. So far, assets worth Rs 16.4 crore have been attached in this case.
