Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. There is a shortage of staff, especially technical staff, in Maulana Azad Medical College and its affiliated hospitals for the last two-three years. The employee union alleges that due to shortage of staff, medical services are being affected and additional workload is being imposed on the working employees, due to which there is dissatisfaction among them.
Meanwhile, the security guard in-charge beat up the college employee, this enraged them and they started protesting. After talks with the college dean on Thursday, he suspended his agitation.
Union President Pooja Sharma said that there are about 270 sanctioned posts of technical staff in the college, out of which about 110 posts are still vacant. It is alleged that despite such a large number of posts being vacant, the college administration is employing technical employees in clerical work. Services are being affected by this.
Sunil Kumar of the union said that this is having a direct impact on testing and diagnostic services. Limited staff has to fulfill many responsibilities, due to which both efficiency and morale are being affected.
Maulana Azad Medical College Employees Union was agitating on these issues. After the meeting of union officials with college dean Manisha Aggarwal on Thursday, the union announced the suspension of the agitation on the assurance received from her. According to union officials, one of their major demands has been accepted and the accused security guard in-charge has been removed by the management.
The second major demand has been assured to complete the recruitment of technical posts soon. Union officials have warned that if prompt action is not taken as per the assurance, then employees may have to consider taking action again. At present, the situation is normal after the meeting and the employees are keeping an eye on the further process.
