Jagran correspondent, Angul. Under the special campaign Operation Prahar-2.0 being run against drugs in Angul district, the police has achieved great success. The police raided and seized 1,573 kg (15 quintals 73 kg) of ganja. One person has been arrested in the case and the truck and mobile phones have been seized.

According to the police, based on a tip-off, a truck was stopped near JSPL Phase-II under Nisha Industrial Police Station area. Upon search, ganja hidden in 63 sacks was recovered from the truck. The accused truck driver was arrested from the spot and a case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act.

On the instructions of District Superintendent of Police Rahul Jain, the joint team of Special Squad and Nisha Police took this action. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the ganja was brought from Kandhamal district and there was a plan to consume it in the neighboring states of Jharkhand and Bihar.

SP Rahul Jain said that zero tolerance policy has been adopted in the district against drug smuggling. He said that efforts have been intensified to identify and arrest other members associated with the interstate gang. The market value of the seized ganja is estimated to be crores of rupees.

It is noteworthy that Operation Prahar-2.0 being run by Angul Police is continuously cracking down on smugglers. This is considered to be the biggest recovery in recent times, which has dealt a major blow to the drug network.
