Know the main points and gist of the news at a glance
Jagran correspondent, Patna City. Even after the demolition of the illegal paths built near the barrier to climb the Mahatma Gandhi Bridge, the passengers continued to move at risk till Thursday afternoon. To curb the danger, the sub-divisional administration cordoned off Gandhi Setu and eliminated all possibilities of boarding and disembarking.
The administration completely demolished the illegal roads by the Municipal Corporation with JCB. Now about twelve to fourteen feet of steep slope of soil is left here. In the afternoon, the passengers going towards North Bihar had to climb the bridge through the approach road near Biskoman Golambar. The administration also ended the illegal halt of tempo on the road below, but the problem still persists.
Sub-Divisional Officer Satyam Sahay said that the problem of people climbing up and down the bridge through the illegal paths built near the barrier had persisted for a long time. An illegal stop for the tempo was made here. Due to this, there used to be jam here all the time. These problems have now been completely eliminated. Action will be taken against drivers who park their tempo on the road and board passengers.
Problem arising due to stoppage of bus on the bridge
Passengers waiting for the bus at Gandhi Setu said that the buses coming from Bairia Bus Stand, Patna or Fatuha and going to Patna from Hajipur have to stop at the barrier because they are forced to use the dangerous route.
The passengers demanded that the buses should be stopped in front of Biskoman Golambar on the bridge in Agamkuan so that they can easily get down from the tempo and board the bus here. Due to buses being stopped on the bridge near the barrier, there is a traffic jam all the time.
The tempo fare from Gaighat to Biskoman Golambar is ten rupees.
Tempo drivers Vikram, Raju, Vijay and others said that passengers stubbornly get down at the barrier. The tempo fare from Gaighat to Barrier is ten rupees. The fare for going from Gaighat to Biscoman Golambar is only ten rupees. The passenger will not have to pay additional fare.
Passengers raised questions regarding security
Shambhu Kumar, lawyer Ahmed and others, who were going to Muzaffarpur, Hajipur with their family, said that it is dangerous to travel by tempo in front of the barrier till Biskoman at night. There is a fear of robbery and snatching on the way. The administration will have to make arrangements for lighting and police patrolling on this route at night, only then the passengers will be able to move without fear.
Like before, administration should make permanent ladder
The passengers said that to climb Gandhi Setu, the administration should construct a permanent staircase between Gaighat and the barrier like before. Earlier, concrete and safe stairs were built near Gaighat, Danka Imli and barrier. The stairs were demolished citing jam as the reason.
