Jagran correspondent, Auraiya. The track of Budhadana Rajbaha located in village Pasaiya in Achalda area suddenly burst on Thursday late night at around 11 pm. Due to this, hundreds of bighas of agricultural land were submerged and the standing crops of dozens of farmers were submerged in water.
According to the villagers, the track had become weak due to high water pressure in Rajbaha. Due to track breakage, water entered the fields directly, affecting the ready crops of wheat, gram, mustard and potato. In this incident, about 30 bigha wheat crop of farmer Dev Singh, 6 bigha of Adesh, 5 bigha of Rajendra Kumar, 4 bigha of Gyan Babu, 8 bigha of Shri Krishna, 5 bigha of Chandrapal and 5 bigha mustard crop of Kirat Singh were submerged. Apart from this, crops of many other farmers have also been affected.
Farmer Gyan Babu told that the crop was completely ready for harvesting. He said that his months of hard work and expenses have been ruined by this incident. Water from Rajbaha also flooded the Pasaiyya-Achhalda road, causing waterlogging on the road. Pedestrians had to face a lot of problems in transportation.
After the farmers informed, the Irrigation Department came into action. At around 7 am on Friday morning, contractor Sarvesh Yadav reached the spot with a bulldozer machine and the work of closing the damaged track was started.
Accountant Ajit Kumar said that in case of disaster, help is provided by the tehsil administration. He said that the negligence of the Irrigation Department is coming to light in this matter. Due to overflow of water in the canal, the surrounding fields got submerged, due to which the farmers had to suffer huge losses.
On the other hand, the villagers have alleged that the Rajwah track was already weak and there was a demand for its repair. Farmers say that if the department had done the repairs in time, such a huge loss would not have occurred. He has demanded an investigation into the negligence of the Irrigation Department and action against the culprits.
