Farmers protest at the Collectorate office in Meerut

Farmers from Azampur village in Meerut staged a strong protest at the Collectorate against the illegal occupation of their agricultural land and a 60-year-old government road. The farmers allege that the land mafia and the former village head of Aranwali conspired to usurp their land and road.

Azampur residents Satpal Sharma, Amrish Sharma, Nandkishore Sharma, Sachin Sharma, and Yogesh Sharma stated that they own agricultural land in the Aranwali area, which is connected to Rohta Road by a government road. Property dealers Harminder and Mohit, in connivance with former village head Manoj Sharma, attempted to plot the land.

According to the farmers, when Mukesh Sharma and Krishna Sharma refused to sell their land, the road leading to their fields was destroyed. The government road leading to Satpal Sharma's field was also displaced and moved westward.

The Role of the Lekhpal and the Controversy

Satpal Sharma protested by showing the government map (Sijre), but Lekhpal Saurabh justified the dealers and the former village head's move to displace the road. He said there was a flaw in the map presented by the farmers.

Following the villagers' protest, dealer Harminder stopped discussing Satpal Sharma's land.

The farmers have demanded immediate intervention from the administration and removal of the illegal encroachments.
