Former British Ambassador to the US Peter Mandelson has been arrested by London police on suspicion of misconduct in public office after his links with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were exposed. Mandelson, 72, was dismissed from the most prestigious posting in Britain's diplomatic service in September.

Police launched a criminal investigation into Mandelson earlier this month after Prime Minister Keir Starmer's government made public conversations between the former ambassador and Epstein. In late January, the US Justice Department released emails between Mandelson and Epstein.
It was revealed from them that there was a very close relationship between the two people. Mandelson shared information with Epstein when he was a minister in Gordon Brown's government.
