A day after the arrest of eight terrorists of Bangladeshi terror module by the Special Cell of Delhi Police, an email was received threatening to bomb Red Fort, Delhi Secretariat, Assembly and two schools in the capital on Monday. As soon as the information about the bomb blast was received, other security agencies including the Special Cell became active. The Red Fort complex, secretariat and schools were immediately evacuated.

Bomb and dog squad, fire department and local police reached the spot and searched the entire premises. The agencies heaved a sigh of relief when nothing suspicious was found. After receiving the threat, the security of the Red Fort has been further increased.

Senior police officer said that this threat was sent in the name of a Khalistani group. Police are trying to trace the sender of the e-mail by scanning the IP address. At the same time, the secretary of Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta has written a letter to the Police Commissioner demanding a detailed investigation into the matter.

According to the information, at around 8:57 in the morning the Speaker of the Assembly received an email in which a threat was made to blow up the Assembly with a bomb. Security agencies were alerted as soon as the mail was received. Shortly after, at 9:08 pm, the same mail was sent to the official ID of the Assembly. Delhi Secretariat also received a bomb threat through email around 12 o'clock. In the same mail, blowing up the Red Fort was also mentioned.

As soon as the threat was received, Delhi Police, Fire Department and other security agencies were activated. A massive search operation was launched in the premises. Senior police officers reached the spot and security arrangements were tightened. The Red Fort complex was evacuated and checking inside and outside was started.

The employees present in Delhi Secretariat were instructed to leave immediately. Bomb disposal squad and dog squad also started investigation, but no suspicious object was found. We are investigating where the email came from.

Two schools also received threats

Even on Monday morning, two major schools of the capital, Army Public School located at Dhaula Kuan and Air Force Bal Bharti School located on Lodhi Road, had received bomb threats. After receiving this information through email, the police, fire department and other staff immediately reached the school premises and conducted a search operation by evacuating the students and staff safely.

High alert issued in the capital

After receiving the bomb threat, security has been tightened at all important establishments including all metro stations across Delhi. High alert has been issued in the capital. Additional forces have been deployed at all metro stations and important establishments. Investigations and surprise searches are also being conducted to prevent destructive activities.
