Cuckoo burning in Vasundhara. Hundred. Sudhi Pathak

Jagran correspondent, Sahibabad. Even after the restrictions of the fourth phase of GREP (Graded Response Action Plan), coal is being burnt in the furnaces. Illegal encroachment has been done by setting up carts on the green belts and roadsides of various sectors of Vasundhara. Coal is being burnt on these carts to make food items. This is causing pollution. Local people posted the photo on Twitter and complained about it to Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board and Municipal Corporation.

NCR is currently facing severe air pollution. To control the situation, strict restrictions have been imposed on vehicles below BS-IV by implementing Grape-IV. There is a ban on burning coal. There are strict orders to sprinkle water on the roads to prevent dust from flying. Even after this, rules are being openly flouted in many sectors of Vasundhara. Carts have been encroached upon in the green belt of Vasundhara Sector-13.

In these, coal is being burnt for cooking. This situation is not only in this sector, but the situation is also similar in Sectors 18, 16, 15, 12, 10, 9, 5 and 2-A. Here, coal gardens are being destroyed on the roadside and the green belt is being encroached upon and coal is being burnt openly. Due to this, the dense smoke has spread into the atmosphere and has become a serious threat to the health of the local residents.

The shocking thing is that this entire matter is just a short distance away from the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board office. Social worker Amit Kishore said that due to continuous smoke, children, elderly people and people suffering from asthma and respiratory diseases are facing a lot of problems. While on one hand strict rules are being imposed on the general public, on the other hand lack of action on such open pollution sources raises serious questions on the functioning of the pollution board and administration. Strict action should be taken against them.

Pollution measuring instruments of Loni and Vasundhara stopped

Pollution measuring instruments installed in Loni and Vasundhara remained closed on Friday. Even after this, Ghaziabad remained the third most polluted city in the country. Noida stood at first place with 410 AQI and Delhi stood at second place with 374 AQI. Ghaziabad's AQI was recorded at 358. The AQI continues to fluctuate with the wind speed, but people are not getting any relief. AQI of Indirapuram was recorded at 351 and Sanjay Nagar was recorded at 366.

"Action will be taken against those who burn coal through surprise inspection. Instructions have been given to the team for this. Strict action will be taken against those who spread pollution."

-Ankit Singh, Regional Officer, Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board.
