A one month old girl died after vaccination in Ayushman Arogya Mandir Bhagitoli of Dumri block.
Samvad Sutra, Dumri (Gumla). There has been a stir in the area after the case of death of a one month old girl after vaccination came to light in Ayushman Arogya Mandir Bhagitoli of Dumri block. There is a lot of anger among the family members regarding the incident and they have accused the concerned ANM of serious negligence. As soon as information about the matter was received, the health department came into action and investigation has been started.
Condition worsened shortly after vaccination
According to the information received, Mukund Nayak's one month old daughter Shivani Kumari was vaccinated at Ayushman Arogya Mandir Bhagitoli last Friday. Family members say that the girl's condition started deteriorating shortly after being vaccinated. She started having trouble breathing, her body became stiff and she started crying continuously. Within no time, within about one and a half hours of vaccination, the girl died.
Family members accused of negligence
The angry family members have accused ANM Sushma Toppo posted at Ayushman Arogya Mandir Bhagitoli of direct negligence. He says that when the girl's condition was deteriorating, she was neither given any first aid nor was she referred to any major medical institution in time. If proper treatment had been received on time, the girl's life could have been saved.
Local public representative also expressed displeasure
In this regard, local head Jyoti Baher Devi said that she has received information that a girl died due to negligence during vaccination in village Lathatoli. He demanded a fair investigation into the case and called for strict action against the culprits.
Health department started investigation
Dr. Albel Kerketta, doctor in charge of Community Health Center Dumri, said that information about the incident has been received. He said that the first vaccine is given 45 days after birth, whereas according to the information, the age of the deceased girl is said to be around 36 days. The entire matter is being investigated and clarification has been sought from the concerned ANM. Action will be taken if found guilty in the investigation.
ANM denied the allegations
Meanwhile, ANM Sushma Toppo told that in village Dahkul, two children were vaccinated with the same injection and after vaccination, the girl was kept under observation for 15 minutes. After this, he refused to say anything on how the girl died. Since the incident, there is an atmosphere of both fear and anger among the people regarding health services in the area.
