Jagran correspondent, Gurdaspur. A new twist has come in the case of sacrifice of two policemen by shooting them at the police check post of Adiyan village of Gurdaspur on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday. In fact, the already arrested accused Dilawar Singh confessed before the media that the police personnel were shot by Ranjit Singh and Inderjit Singh, while he brought them from the spot.

On the other hand, the postmortem of deceased Ranjeet could not be done even for the third day on Friday, because the family is adamant on the demand of forming a board of doctors and getting videography done. At present no consensus is being reached on this.

It is noteworthy that Home Guard jawan Ashok Kumar and ASI Gurnam Singh were shot dead at Adiya police check post. In this case, the police had arrested the accused Dilawar Singh (resident – Alinangal), who during interrogation told that the murder was carried out by Ranjit Singh and Inderjit Singh (resident – Adiyaan).

Police later also arrested Ranjit Singh, who was killed in a police encounter on Wednesday. At present the police has not been able to arrest the accused Inderjit Singh yet. Different teams are conducting raids in search of him. These killers of policemen were in contact with a person named Chacha living in Pakistan.

The police first arrested Dilawar Singh in this case. DIG Border Range Sandeep Goyal had told that he was lured with Rs 20,000 only to assist in the murders, out of which he received Rs 3,000.

On Friday, the police took Dilawar to the hospital for medical treatment. Here he made a big disclosure in front of the media and said that Ranjeet and Inderjeet had opened fire in this murder case, whereas he had only gone to take them.

The accused were in contact with 'uncle'

According to sources, Inderjeet was a heroin addict, due to which he came in contact with a person named Chacha in Pakistan. After this, Ranjeet and Dilawar got in touch with their uncle through Indrajeet. It was on the advice of uncle that Ranjeet and Inderjeet shot the police personnel.

After this, Indrajeet went telling Ranjeet that he was going to collect the money received for the murder from Batala. Meanwhile, Ranjit Singh got caught by the police and Indrajit got wind of this and he fled from there.

The villagers are not ready to say anything

Cases under NDPS and Arms Act are registered against about one and a half dozen people of village Adiyan. However, most of these cases are related to drug addiction, out of which about five people are in jail.

Now leaders of various parties are raising questions on Ranjeet's encounter and the people of the village also seem to be unanimous. Due to this, now the people of the village are not ready to say anything in this matter. People do not want to talk about old matters either.
