Another golden chapter has been added to the court after the suspended JE of the Irrigation Department and his wife were sentenced to death, who were found guilty of serious crimes including sexual assault on children. This historic decision of the court of Special Judge POCSO has underlined the strict judicial stance in the district. It is being told that this is the third death sentence given by the same court within the last six months.
Earlier, in two other cases, those accused of raping innocent children have also been given death penalty. Till now, death sentence has been awarded in a total of five cases in the district. The continuous tough decisions are being seen as a reflection of the firmness and sensitivity of the judiciary, which has sent a strong message to the society that crimes against women will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
In September 2025, the court had sentenced the culprit to death in the case of murder of an innocent girl after rape in a village of Chilla police station area. In this case also, the judicial process was completed in a total of 58 days after the filing of the charge sheet. The culprit of the rape incident in Kalinjar last January has been sentenced to death. Earlier, a person guilty of raping and murdering a girl in a village of Chilla police station has been sentenced to death.
About a year before this, the culprit was also sentenced to death penalty for the rape incident that took place in Marka. Similarly, in connection with the Chhota Purva massacre, the accused was given death sentence by the court, in which the accused was also accused of murdering two children. Thus, this is the fifth death sentence in the district. However, in old cases, a petition has been filed in the High Court on behalf of the relatives of the accused, in which the matter is currently under consideration.

For the third time in six months, the POCSO court has awarded death sentence in a rape case. Judge Pradeep Kumar Mishra, who awarded the death sentence, had earlier sentenced the culprit to death in the case of rape and murder of an innocent child in Chilla and rape of an innocent child in Kalinjar. Pradeep Kumar Mishra has become the first judge to pronounce the third death sentence in six months.
