Jagran correspondent, Aligarh. Manoj alias Manu, who committed the heinous crime of raping and murdering a minor about eight months ago, has been sentenced to remain behind bars till his last breath. Also ordered a fine of Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand.
Additional District and Sessions Judge (POCSO Court) No. 1 Anil Kumar, while giving the sentence, made a strong comment that no leniency can be shown towards criminals who commit atrocities against innocent people.

Manoj alias Manu lured an 11-year-old boy from the village on June 17, 2025. After consuming cannabis, he raped the child in the millet field. Due to fear of his identity being revealed, he was strangled to death with a towel. To hide the crime, they dug a pit in the field and tried to burn the body by pouring petrol on it and to destroy the evidence, they poured salt on it and buried it with soil.

When the child did not return home, the relatives searched, but could not find any trace. On June 18, 2025, on the complaint of the child's father, a case was registered against unknown at Iglas police station. During the investigation, the police found an important eyewitness, who had last seen the child going with Manu. The police took Manu into custody and interrogated him. During this time he confessed to the crime.
The court said that leniency cannot be shown towards those who commit atrocities against innocent people.
The body of the child was recovered from the field on the behest of the accused. The police filed the chargesheet on the basis of medical reports, forensic evidence, statements of witnesses and other circumstantial evidence. The court, after thoroughly examining the facts, evidence and statements of witnesses, convicted the accused and sentenced him.
