Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM), based at Rouse Avenue in Delhi, has strongly reprimanded the Delhi Police for their negligence in investigating the defacement case and has given the last chance to the investigating officer (IO) and the station in-charge (SHO). The court clearly said that incomplete and vague status reports cannot be accepted.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Paras Dalal observed during the hearing that the report filed by the police neither stated the actual status of the investigation nor made it clear by when the investigation would be completed.
Questions were raised on the seriousness of the investigation
Considering this as a serious mistake, the court warned the officers that if they do not submit a satisfactory report next time, a complaint will be sent against them to senior officers. The Court particularly expressed displeasure over the fact that even two months after the FIR was registered, the complainant was not called to join the investigation. The court said that this raises questions on the seriousness of the investigation.

The complaint pertains to defamation by putting up posters and banners on public property. On the instructions of the court, the IP Estate police station had registered an FIR under Section 3 of the Defamation of Public Property Act in December 2025, but till now the accused has not been identified.
The court has directed the IO and SHO to file a detailed report on the next hearing including the progress of the investigation, steps taken so far and further timelines.
