Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. Taking a big step towards strengthening the startup ecosystem in the capital, the Delhi government has announced the launch of Capes to Market Startup Incubation Policy. Education Minister Ashish Sood made this announcement during the Delhi Startup Youth Festival 2026.

The event was organized at the Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women campus at Kashmere Gate, where the Minister interacted with the selected top 100 student startups. He said that the aim of the government is not just to give degrees but to make the youth not employment seekers but employment providers.

The minister said that under the new policy, Rs 325 crore will be spent in the next five years and five thousand startups will be helped in taking them from idea to market. This will include provisions like intellectual property protection, investor engagement, funding support and market provision.

He said that about one thousand startups participated in the recent Startup Youth Festival, out of which 700 gave presentations and finally 100 startups were selected. During the dialogue, students presented their innovations and also shared suggestions, on which departmental officials were instructed to take necessary action.

Giving the example of a drone developed by a student, Ashish Sood said that it is the priority of the government to link technological innovations with real use. In future such drones can be used in security and public services at the RWA level.

He said that earlier many institutions were working separately on similar startup projects, leading to wastage of resources and talent. The new policy will integrate these efforts and create a streamlined startup framework.
