Himachal's PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh during his meeting with Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi.

Jagran Team, Shimla. Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh met Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi on Saturday. He presented the detailed progress report of the sanctioned road projects and ongoing works in Himachal Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-4.

Raised the issue of Dodra Kwar road

In the meeting, the topic of road projects of Dodra Kwar, a very inaccessible and high altitude area of Shimla district, was mainly raised. Informed that some part of the road in Dodra Kwar area approved under PMGSY Phase-1 has not been completed yet due to harsh geographical conditions, inaccessible land surface, difficult weather and limited working season, whereas this route is extremely sensitive from the point of view of local rural population, disaster management for border areas, health emergency services and supply of essential materials.

Special relaxation should be given for the remaining works

Vikramaditya Singh requested that special concessions, additional financial support and technical assistance be provided for the pending road package and remaining works of Phase-1 of Dodra Kwar area, so that all-weather road facilities can be ensured to the people of this geographically challenged area at the earliest.

1,200 km additional roads proposed

Rural road projects of approximately 1,500 km length have been approved under PMGSY‑IV for Himachal Pradesh, with an estimated cost of approximately ₹2,300 crore. Also, the State Government has proposed about 1,200 kilometers of additional roads to the Central Government in the second phase of PMGSY‑IV, for which DPR (Detailed Project Report) is being prepared by the Public Works Department and approval of these projects is expected in the near future.

People should provide gift deed.

Vikramaditya Singh appealed to all the public representatives, Panchayat representatives and land owners to cooperate with the department by providing maximum number of gift deeds, so that the land required for road construction can be available on time and more and more uncovered settlements of the state can be connected to the road network. He said that your active cooperation is the biggest support in bringing the light of development to remote and deprived areas.

Expressing full sensitivity towards the needs of Himachal Pradesh, Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured that the issue of pending packages of Dodra Kawar, residual works of PMGSY‑I and necessary financial approvals will be taken up on priority at the relevant levels including the Finance Ministry and positive results will be achieved soon.
