Husband Sentenced To 10 Years For Murder Of Wife, Court Gives Verdict In Seven Year Old Case

Jagran correspondent, Shamli. When their demand for a car was not met, the in-laws killed the married woman by hanging her around the neck. After being found guilty, Additional District and Sessions Judge (Fast Track Court) Ritu Nagar sentenced the accused Abid, resident of village Hasanpur Luhari police station Bhawan, to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000.

On Friday, Assistant District Government Advocate Satyendra Dhiryan told that on February 9, 2018, Gulsher Ahmed, resident of Behda Khed, village of Fatehpur police station of Saharanpur district, had filed a case at the police station that his sister Sanjila was married to Abid, resident of Hasanpur Luhari on November 12, 2017.

Her sister's husband Abid, brother-in-law Zahid, brother-in-law Shahid, sister-in-law Fatima and father-in-law Saeed used to demand swift tax in dowry. When the demand was not met, on February 9, 2018, Abid and his family members killed Sanjila by hanging her with a noose. Even in the post mortem report, the cause of death was asphyxiation due to strangulation. The police had sent the charge sheet against all the five accused to the court.

Nine witnesses were presented by the prosecution. On Friday, after hearing the arguments of both the parties and perusing the files, Additional District and Sessions Judge Ritu Nagar sentenced the deceased's husband Abid to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000. Due to lack of evidence, Jet Zahid, brother-in-law Shahid, sister-in-law Fatima and father-in-law Saeed were declared innocent.
