Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. After Bangkok, now a case of smuggling of hydroponic ganja from Krabi in Thailand to Delhi has come to light. The Customs Department, in a major action at IGI Airport, has seized 23.936 kg of high quality hydroponic ganja from the possession of two Indian passengers.
It was told that both the accused were playing the role of courier in ganja smuggling. According to the Customs Department, the estimated value of ganja is around Rs 23.936 crore.
Had reached Delhi from Krabi city of Thailand
According to the Customs Department, both the passengers had reached Delhi from Krabi, a city in southern Thailand, on Indigo Airlines flight number 6E-1070 and were trying to exit through the green channel. Based on the profiling, the officials stopped them and conducted X-ray scanning of their luggage, in which some suspicious packets were seen.

After this the bag was thoroughly examined. During investigation, 14 air-tight sealed polythene packets were recovered. Of these, eight packets were kept hidden in a grey-yellow colored trolley bag, while six packets were kept hidden in a dark green and white colored trolley bag. Preliminary testing has confirmed the substance to be marijuana.
At the same time, action has been taken against both the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation is underway by taking the seized drugs and packing material into custody.
The Customs Department said that earlier on February 16 and 19, it had also taken action in cases of smuggled ganja, in which four Indian passengers were accused.
