Illegal Arms Supply Racket Exposed After Receiving Instructions From Canada; One Captured, Three Pistol Cartridges Recovered

Neeraj Sharma, Hoshiarpur. Mehtiana police station has registered a case in connection with illegal weapons and named two accused. Police have arrested one accused in this case while one accused is a resident of Canada. Police have recovered three country-made pistols (32 bore), one magazine and three live cartridges from the accused arrested in this case.

The arrested accused have been identified as Manish alias Jassa Pradhan, son of Dhanjeet Singh, resident of Mona Kalan, Police Station Mehtiana, while one Param, a native of Chabbewal Hall, resident of Canada. Param has not been arrested yet. Manish Kumar alias Jassa Pradhan was in touch with Param Canada for a long time.

Giving information, SI Navjot Singh said that a few days ago Manish Kumar alias Jassa Pradhan was arrested in a drug smuggling case. When the police interrogated Manish Kumar, he told that he was in contact with Param, a resident of Canada, who is a native of Chabbewal. Param used to supply ammunition to various places in the area.

He has supplied arms earlier also. Manish told during interrogation that Param used to give him the location of the ammunition lying on the phone and then send him the next location where the ammunition was to be supplied.

The weapon was already lying at the designated location.

Manish told that a few days before the supply, Param had contacted him on phone and told him in code word that he should be ready to deliver the goods. After which he used to send him the location and his job was only to pick up the weapon from the location which was already hidden by someone at the said location and he would take the weapon from there and return to the next location which Param sent, quietly hiding it there.

He did not know anything about who took the weapon from there. SI Navjot Singh told that Manish's job was only to collect weapons from a fixed place and transport them to another place. He told that Manish used to get some money for this. He told that Manish told that till date he has not found out who keeps the weapon and for whom he keeps the weapon at the next location. His job was only to transport the vehicle from one place to another specified place.

A few days ago information used to come on the phone

Manish told during interrogation that he had received a call from Param a few days ago that Asla Kot had been buried near Bhungarani near Fatuhi Canal. He was not yet told about the next location to which the weapon was to be delivered. On the instructions of Manish, the police excavated the land from the place mentioned by Manish and recovered the said weapons which included three country-made pistols, one magazine and three live cartridges.

SI Navjot Singh said that the police is investigating the case and some more accused are also expected to be arrested in this case. He told that all this work was done with complete planning and some other people involved in this racket will soon be controlled.

City police station also caught two accused with pistol

In the second case, ASI Manjeet Singh posted at Police Station City, while patrolling with the police party, arrested Raman Kumar alias Thandu and Pradeep Kumar alias Dammaru in suspicious condition near Dhobighat, who were trying to flee from the spot after seeing the police party. When they searched, a country-made pistol of 32 bore, a magazine and two live cartridges were recovered from them.
