Jagran correspondent, Greater Noida. Beta Do Kotwali Police has busted a gang that was instigating conversion to Christianity by giving money to poor families and instigating conversion to Christianity by promising to cure the diseases of the sick.

Two members of the gang have been arrested and a huge quantity of religious text books, signs of the cross and candles and other materials related to Christianity have been recovered from the prayer meeting place in the basement of the house. Eyewitness society residents say that about 70 men and women were present in the prayer meeting on Sunday. The accused also tried to quarrel with the police.

About 70 people met in the prayer meeting

Number B-224 is a two-storey house located in B Block of Sector-36. Mohan Singh, who lives in the same sector, came to know that in the prayer meetings related to Christianity in the house, people are instigated to convert by luring money etc.

They reached the hall in the basement of the house at around 12 noon on Sunday. About 60 to 70 women and men were present in the prayer meeting inside. The people present inside got into a dispute with him.

Police was called after closing the gate from outside.

Mohan came out and closed the basement gate from outside. On information, RWA President Ajay Bhati and Dial-112 and Inspector-in-charge arrived. The accused also clashed with the police after they were warned of action against gathering a crowd in a prayer meeting without permission.

The police took into custody the gang members Suresh Kumar, a tribal taxi driver originally resident of Banswara in Rajasthan, currently living in Sigma 2, house number C-28, his wife Asha and sister-in-law Geeta and Chandrakiran son Gajendra Singh, resident of Aichhar, and brought them to the police station.

Those who conducted the prayer said – we are not Christians

Inspector in-charge Vinod Kumar said that during interrogation the accused denied converting anyone. It has been said that children from poor families will be given free education and gifts. Both the accused are Hindus. At present, he has also denied the matter of his own religious conversion.

Suresh and Chandrakiran have been arrested and a case has been registered for inciting people to convert through prayer meetings and other means. The house and the materials related to Christianity kept in it have been sealed. Further action will be taken based on the facts found in the investigation.
