Increase in prices of fruits due to Roza

Samvad Sahayak, Jagran, Railpar: An increase in the prices of fruits is being seen due to Ramzan. Apart from this, an increase is also being seen in the prices of dry fruits, dry fruits, dates, raisins, cashew nuts etc. Especially the fasting people are worried due to the increase in the prices of fruits. There has been no significant increase in the price of watermelon alone. The prices of other fruits are increasing by Rs 20 to Rs 25 per kg, due to which everyday people are purchasing fruits as per their budget. Due to which the income of shopkeepers is being affected. In view of Roza, shopkeepers have kept stocks of fruits. Mohammad Israel, a fruit seller at Railpar Baruva market, and Mohammad Alam, a fruit seller at Chandmari market, say that there has been a slight increase in the prices of fruits and other food items due to the month of Ramadan. Especially the prices of fruits have increased by Rs 15 to Rs 25, which include apple, sweet lime, lemon, grapes, banana, dates etc. Apple is being sold at Rs 220 to Rs 240, banana at Rs 50 to Rs 60, local grapes at Rs 120 to Rs 150, foreign grapes at Rs 300 per kg, Kamla lemon at Rs 100 per kg, Kamla lemon from Malta and Turkey at Rs 170 per kg, papaya at Rs 80 per kg. Pakka Bazaar shopkeeper Mohammad Naeem said that half a kilo of local dates is being sold at Rs 100 per kg, while Kenyan dates are being sold at Rs 300 per kg. Cashew is available at Rs 800 per kg, raisins at Rs 320 per kg, walnuts at Rs 900 per kg. He said that due to inflation, buyers are coming less, due to which sales are being affected.
