Investigation Into The Works Of Mayor Kote Intensified, 6 Works Were Thrown Out After Duplication Was Caught; Tenders Can Open This Week

Investigation of development works intensified, preparation to open tender this week

Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. The Municipal Corporation administration has increased the pace of investigation to ensure that there is no duplication in the development works being done in the city under the Mayor's quota. So far, after duplication of six works has come to light, they have been thrown out of the tender process, while close scrutiny of other proposals is going on.

On the other hand, new proposals have also started coming from the wards, most of which are related to the new wards included in the boundary expansion. There have been indications that the Municipal Corporation will open the tender this week.

The Municipal Corporation Administration says that before issuing the work order for any work, every proposal is being examined at the technical and administrative level. No carelessness will be taken regarding matters related to duplication. In this sequence, the Public Works Department (PWD) section of the Municipal Corporation is examining the old proposals as well as including the new proposals in its records.

New proposals will be added in the upcoming tender only when it is clear that they do not fall in the category of works already done by any other department like MDDA or PWD. Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal has given strict instructions to the officials to ensure complete investigation in the tender process and to ensure that no work is involved in duplication.

At present the tender process is going on and the Municipal Corporation Administration is studying all the technical aspects. The tender will be put in the application box on January 8, after which the further process will begin.

Questions on investigation of pothole filling works

Now questions are also being raised regarding the previously approved development works in the city. Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal had earlier passed a budget of Rs 30 lakh each for development works in each ward. After this, an additional budget of Rs 5 lakh was given in each ward to fill the potholes formed in the city during the rainy season.

Then, under development works, works worth Rs 15 lakh each were approved in each ward. Now the discussion is whether the amount of Rs 5 lakh per ward sanctioned for filling the potholes was actually spent completely and whether the quality of work was monitored at the places where the potholes were filled or not. The question is also being raised whether the Municipal Administration submitted the report of these works to the Mayor and Municipal Commissioner or not.
