For the convenience of the people of the capital, Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation is currently constructing many bridges, flyovers and road over bridges in the city and rural areas. Among these, there is also an underpass being built at the Awadh intersection, after its construction, not only will the five lakh population get relief, but the people going from the capital to Kannauj, Agra, Mathura, Noida and Delhi will not have to get stuck in the jam at the Awadh intersection. For this, the work of the underpass at the Awadh intersection is going on at a very fast pace and a target has been set to complete it by December 2026.
Vehicles coming from VIP Road will directly go to Para road through Awadh underpass. Here, twenty-five to thirty minutes were wasted getting stuck in the traffic jam. If this time is saved then the driver can cover fifteen to twenty kilometers. Will be able to cover the distance. For a long time, the users of Agra Expressway were demanding for this underpass.
After the construction of this underpass, the traffic load is expected to reduce by forty percent. Because only the traffic going from Charbagh to Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport, Unnao and Kanpur will run on the road built above the underpass. Apart from this, there will be movement of local people. An underpass of double girder box is being built, which will have two lanes. More than forty percent work has been done here.
Awadh underpass is being made 887.36 meters long. In this the ramp will be about 282.16 meters long. The length of the box will be 350 meters and the ramp at the exit will be 255.20 meters. There will also be a divider in between to ensure that there is no jam of vehicles on the two-lane ramp. More than fifteen thousand vehicles will be able to pass in 24 hours.
Setu Nigam is spending Rs 14,637.20 lakh on the entire project. According to engineers, efforts are being made to finish this work by December 2026. In the written form, the date for completion of civil work has been kept as June 2027. After its construction, there will be relief for the next 25 to 30 years. Lighting will be better, there will be no waterlogging, CC cameras will be installed.
Along with the arrangement of lighting in the underpass built at Awadh intersection, arrangements are being made along with civil work to ensure that there is no waterlogging during the rainy season. Generally, water logging occurs through ramp in underpass. For security reasons, the Agra Express between Lucknow and Delhi is equipped with cameras. In such a situation, CC cameras will also be installed in the underpass, which will be connected to the police control room.
